Frequently Asked Questions

webseum.co is the Museum of the Web - an infinite canvas where every website, project, blog, or idea gets a permanent, visible exhibit.

No ranking. No algorithm. No expiry date. Once your exhibit is approved, it becomes part of the museum forever - as long as the web exists.

Click any empty cell on the canvas - a small popup appears. Hit "Claim this exhibit" and fill in your website name, URL, and an optional description.

You can also upload a thumbnail image and pick a color for your cell. Once submitted, our team will review your exhibit before it appears on the canvas.

Creating a free account during the process lets you edit your exhibit later, manage your profile, and receive status updates by email.

Yes - an account is free and optional. You can create one during the claim process or separately.

With an account you get:

  • A personal profile page with your avatar and contact info
  • A dedicated exhibit page at webseum.co/exhibit/your-name
  • The ability to edit your exhibit name, URL, description, and meta information
  • Email notifications when your submission is approved or rejected
  • Access to submit changes (each change is reviewed by our team)

Without an account, your exhibit still appears on the canvas - but it can't be edited afterwards and won't have an internal exhibit page.

Every approved exhibit with an account gets its own page at webseum.co/exhibit/your-name. This page shows your website name, description, thumbnail, and a link to your site.

On the canvas, clicking your cell opens this exhibit page instead of going directly to your URL - giving visitors context before they leave the museum.

If you rename your exhibit, the old URL automatically redirects to the new one. Your exhibit page is also indexed by search engines.

Log in and go to your profile page. From there you can edit your exhibit's name, URL, description, image, and SEO metadata.

All changes are submitted for review and go live once our team approves them. You'll be notified by email when the review is complete.

You can also update your profile picture, display name, and contact details - these apply to all your exhibits.

Every single submission - new exhibits and edits alike - is manually and thoroughly reviewed by our team before going live. There are no automated approvals.

We check each exhibit carefully for content quality, reachability of the URL, and compliance with our guidelines. This keeps the museum a trustworthy, curated place.

Review typically takes a short while depending on volume. You'll receive an email notification once a decision has been made (approved or rejected), provided you supplied an email address.

If rejected, the reason will be included in the notification. You can correct your submission and resubmit.

Submissions are rejected if they violate our content guidelines. Common reasons:

  • Sexual or pornographic content
  • Violence, hate speech, or discrimination
  • Illegal content (copyright infringement, counterfeit goods, etc.)
  • Spam or phishing
  • Unreachable or broken URLs
  • Misleading or false information
  • Low-quality or placeholder content (coming-soon pages, empty sites)

If rejected, you'll receive an email with the reason. Correct your submission and resubmit - we're happy to take another look.

Around the central webseum.co block there are 20 reserved cells - they can't be claimed by simply clicking. On each page load, one of those cells is randomly selected and displays a 🎮 game icon. The position changes with every visit.

Click the game cell to open the Mini-Game. Win it, and that exhibit cell is yours to claim.

Available games:

  • Snake - Reach the target score without hitting a wall or yourself
  • Pong - Keep the ball in play until you reach the winning score

One win per account per day. The claimed cell is permanently yours once you complete the submission - it won't appear as the game cell again.

All other reserved cells show a 🔒 lock icon and remain unavailable until a future game session selects them.

Yes - completely free. No fees, no subscriptions, no paid placements.

Every exhibit has the same visibility on the canvas regardless of when it was claimed. We don't sell premium spots or boosted positions.
